ROYAL OAK CHALLENGE CUP FIRST ROUND DRAW NOW ONLINE!

 

KNOCKOUT CUP:

A massive match was in prospect at the Legion as high flying Wanderers were up against 3 times Premiership Champions, K.S.S.C. ‘A’. The club took at 2-0 lead with J. Philpot and M. Burbury winning. It was always going to be a tough battle for the K.S.S.C. ‘A’ and it showed as in-form K. Smith was beaten by a brilliant performance from K. Haw recording a 129 check-out in the first leg and then a strange 76 finish in the second, with the first dart going out the board then hit treble 16, double 14 to secure an excellent victory. A. Brown also won for the Wanderers to make the score 2-2. P. Fellowes had a great chance to put the Wanderers ahead for the first time with a recorded 180, but was very unfortunate to lose, though M. Griffin put in a good finish in both the second and third legs. From there it was all the K.S.S.C. ‘A’ as they stormed to a 7-2 victory, but the result didn’t show the great performance from the Wanderers. Next up was a match between the Legion Nomads and the Clad “H” Jousters. It looked like the Jousters were too strong of a side for the Nomads, but they did put up a great fight with some of the games could have gone either way. Jousters put the match beyond doubt going 6-0 up, with P. Parkin, B. North, M. Chapman, N. Beasley, T. Parkin and B. Huggins winning. T. Parkin recorded a 101 finish and won that leg in just 15 darts. K. Walker got the Nomads their first leg, and won the triples first game, before the Jousters took the final triples game to win 7-2. Engine ‘A’ just had the edge on the Legion Inkies in their match as they took a smash and grab 6-3 away victory. N. Collett, A. Bear, P. Nicholls, C. Collett and S. Barnett gave the Engine side the victory after just 5 games. P. Hopkins and G. Castle replied for the Inkies making the score 5-2. Both the triples were shared to give the Premiership side the well earned and hard fought victory. A. Bear recorded a 180 during the match. Royal Oak ‘B’s hope of achieving a surprise victory were slashed as they were at the wrong end of a 9-0 whitewash against Stoneleigh. Stoneleigh were on top throughout the match with J. Fletcher, R. Harrison, D. Brown, C. Jones, J.S. Fletcher, N. Roberts and J. Stafford won their singles matches and also Stoneleigh won both the triples to achieve a good away first round win. The match between the Tiltyard ‘B’ and Tavern ‘B’ would always have been too close to call a winner and it showed as they match went either way before the Premierships second placed team, Tavern ‘B’, eventually won a hard fought 5-4 battle. J. Clifford, D. Sidwell and S. Milne put the Tavern side into a 3-0 lead, but A. Weetman, S. James and J. Perrins put the Tiltyard ‘B’ side level at 3-3. S. Mulgrew won the last singles game to put the Tavern side 4-3 up. Tiltyard won the first triples game to give a tense and nervous final triples game. With the last triples going one leg all, it was down to a third and final leg which was eventually won by the Tavern ‘B’. 5-4 was the final score to the Tavern ‘B’. Royal Oak started the night off with a 3-0 lead with M. Cox, V. Hudson and C. Meaton winning. M. McMahon pulled a leg back for the Tavern, but C. Kelly gave the Oak side the three leg difference once again. S. Timlin reduced the deficit once again to 4-2, but S. Anderson wrapped things up early giving the Oak a 5-2 away victory. Engine Old Boys were given a walkover, as they match between them and The Bear & Ragged Staff wasn't played, when the Bear didn't turn up.

 

JACK BAYLISS PLATE:

In-form team Gauntlet Allstars are through to the second round in the Jack Bayliss Plate with a tough victory over the Legion Amazons. C. Molloy and G. Shepherd put the away team (Amazons) in front, but the Allstars soon replied as J. Arrowsmith and D. Jackson won to level the scores at 2-2. Amazons re-took the lead, but the Allstars won the remaining two singles to lead 4-3. Allstars also won the two triples games to win the match 6-3. Tiltyard ‘A’ recorded an excellent away victory against League Three’s high-flying team Wyandotte Jollops. M. Hayward-Harper put the Jollops 1-0 ahead, but wins from P. Stringer, W. Semple, D. Bowers and R. Stringer for the Tiltyard side, put them 4-1 in front and cruising for the victory early on in the match. C. Stefurak and T. Lindsey gave the Jollops a lifeline in the match reducing the lead to only 4-3. Tiltyard won the first triples though to secure a 5-3 victory, before the Jollops got a conciliation game and the last triples to make the final score 5-4. League Two leaders K.S.S.C. Dragons won their match against Baginton Rusty Cowboys. The first two games were shared with K. Lockett winning for the Dragons and A. Cluff for the Rusty Cowboys. G. Behan, W. Morgan, K. Davies and M. Hall gave the Dragons a well earned victory at 5-1, before D. Whittaker won the final singles game to finish the match at 5-2. Tiltyard Lancers edged the victory in their match against the Baginton Bombers. M. Knight, C. Milne and K. Smith gave the Lancers a storming 3-0 lead. M. Dhaddy put the Bombers on the board at 3-1, before R. Storr restored the three leg difference at 4-1. P. Patel won his game and G. Samra was given a walkover as the Lancers only turned up with 6 players, giving the Bombers a chance in the match at only being 4-3 down. Bombers won the first triples to give a tense final game. Lancers just edged the last triples after it went one leg all to beat the Bombers 5-4. Legion Sunfiners are through to the second round in the Jack Bayliss Plate after securing an excellent away victory at struggling League Three side, Wardens D.T.H.P. The Wardens side won the first three out of four with J. Duncan, A. Pidgeon and S. Thorpe winning. A. Flowers won for the Sunfiners which made the score 3-1 to the D.T.H.P. Things soon changed as the Sunfiners won six straight legs as P. Shepherd, T. Withey and C. Withey won to give the Sunfiners a 4-3 lead after the singles games. Wardens won the first triples, but were unable to cause a first round upset as they lost the last triples and the Sunfiners won 5-4. The Cottage nearly got themselves a suprise First Round victory over the Wyandotte 'C' as they were just edged out. Wyandotte won the first four out of five in the singles as D. Spanswick, M. Bishop, I. Chamberlain and M. Smith won their games, while M. Fell won the one for the Cottage. The Cottage replied as they won the fins two singles, thanks to R. Fell and J. Clark so reduce the deficite to only 4-3. Cottage won the first triples to give the match a tight finish, but were unable to continue their winning streak as they lost the final triples as the Wyandotte 'C' won 5-4.
